  • A Peabody pedestrian was taken to Lahey Hospital in Burlington after being struck by a Peabody man driving a Ford Mustang Sunday night.
  • The Red Sox-Twins game scheduled for Monday afternoon was postponed shortly before first pitch "out of respect" for the victim of a police-related shooting death.
  • One group of Massachusetts students are pushing back on the state's call to cancel school proms for a second year out of coronavirus concerns.

A 41-year-old Peabody man driving a Ford Mustang was involved in a crash with a 58-year-old Peabody pedestrian on Forest Street Sunday night.

Peabody Police Captain Dennis Bonaiuto told Patch early Monday afternoon that the victim was conscious when police arrived shortly after 7:30 and taken to Lahey Clinic in Burlington for treatment.

The Boston Red Sox' game in Minneapolis was postponed shortly before the first pitch Monday afternoon.

The Minnesota Twins, who the Sox were expected to begin their series against, said the postponement was "out of respect" for the developing situation in the Minneapolis suburb of Brooklyn Center following the fatal police shooting of 20-year-old Daunte Wright.

"Out of respect for the tragic events that occurred yesterday in Brooklyn Center, and following the additional details in this evolving situation, the Minnesota Twins have decided it is in the best interests of our fans, staff, players and community to not play today's game," according to a statement from the Twins.

We can dance if we want to: For the past three months, the seniors at Newton South High School have been planning a way to have a safe prom and follow COVID guidelines. Then, state officials encouraged schools to skip prom for the second year because of the pandemic.

The news landed hard on Newton South students and staff who had already drafted a COVID-aware prom plan and gotten it approved.

Taking it to the streets: Waltham will close Moody Street once again to traffic to allow outdoor dining amid the second year of the pandemic. The closure will begin May 1 and last until the end of October. Some businesses on the street had fought the closures, saying that they relied on the on-street parking for their success.
