Peabody Rescinds Snow Emergency Parking Ban After 2 Days

West Peabody was one of the jackpot areas of the state with 7 inches of snow over two days, according to the National Weather Service.

PEABODY, MA — It didn't snow hard for very long. But it snowed steadily for a long time.

Eventually, it did add up in Peabody.

One of the only cities in the area to declare a snow emergency parking ban ahead of a long-duration storm on Thursday, Peabody rescinded the ban Saturday morning at 5:45.

By then it did rank as one of the jackpot areas of the state for the persistent — if not overly punishing — storm at West Peabody officially totaled 7 inches of new snow.

As predicted on Patch, coastal locations had some of the highest totals with 7.7 inches in Barnstable and 7.5 inches in West Falmouth. Whitman led the way on the South Shore with 7.2 inches.

Other sneaky snow havens a bit farther from the coast, according to the National Weather Service, were Sharon at 7.5 inches and West Newton at 6.2 inches.

The good news is that the sun should be back out this weekend with warmer temperatures (perhaps near 50 degrees) returning midweek after a frigid few weeks.
