Peabody Resident is MVES Employee Spotlight Award Winner

Peabody Resident is Mystic Valley Elder Services Latest Employee Spotlight Award Winner

Mystic Valley Elder Services (MVES) latest Employee Spotlight Award winner is Peabody resident Angie Fitzgerald, Nutrition Director, who’s been with the agency for 15 years beginning as Nutrition Supervisor.

Angie’s nominators had this to say about her:

“She has gone over and above what was needed plus being a cheerleader for us when we needed it. We feel she should be recognized for all the hard work and her commitment to keeping things running for our seniors.”

Angie leads the Nutrition Department that provides food and nutritional services for consumers and community members including home-delivered meals through the Meals on Wheels program. During a typical month prior to the pandemic, MVES delivered approximately 50,000 meals to more than 2,000 older adults aged 60 to 100+ years in their homes. The program provides hot and cold nutritional meals on a daily basis to individuals as some may struggle to prepare meals for themselves, or because of physical limitations or financial difficulties.

However, these are not typical times. But despite the challenges COVID-19 has brought, Angie and her team have continued to serve home delivered meals to consumers, and the number of those needing meals delivered has and continues to increase. Since the pandemic started, the program is serving closer to 60,000 meals per month and not a serving day or meal has been missed.

“I am truly honored to accept this award, especially as the nomination came from my awesome team. The past six months have truly been the most challenging of my career here at Mystic Valley, but I think they have also been the most rewarding,” says Angie. “We have been able to adapt and do things I didn’t think possible and our seniors never went hungry. I am so proud of my team and they should be SO proud of themselves. Whatever I have asked them to do they did it without hesitation. It takes every single one of us to do our part to make this work every day, business is booming!”

The spotlight award is given to a Mystic Valley Elder Services employee who has gone above and beyond typical job expectations, provided outstanding customer service, or performed distinctive achievements that impact their department and agency.

Congratulations Angie!
