Peabody Students Honored At Assumption, Maryland, Tampa

These Peabody students were among those recently earning academic or athletic distinction.

PEABODY, MA — Two Peabody students were among the nearly 400 graduates who received bachelor's degrees at Assumption University's 104th commencement on May 9 at the DCU Center in Worcester.

Temitayo Falayi and Julia Tansey, both of Peabody, were among the graduates.

Patience N. Nkwetta, of Peabody, earned a master of science in cybersecurity Technology from the University of Maryland Global Campus.

The university held a virtual stateside commencement on May 15 for more than 5,500 graduates of the Class of 2021. Worldwide, more than 13,000 students from all 50 states and the District of Columbia, as well as 32 countries and territories, earned UMGC degrees during the 2020-21 academic year. UMGC also conducts graduation ceremonies in Europe and Asia for military service members and their families serving overseas.

The University of Tampa hosted a virtual commencement on May 8 to honor 1,781 degree-seeking candidates at the University's 152nd commencement. The event was viewed online by the students, their family members and friends, UT faculty and staff members and the general public.

Ashley Rolli, of Peabody, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology.

Shelby McKie, of Peabody, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in advertising and public relations.

Yalines Medrano, a Lasell University student from Peabody, was elected to the university's Student Alumni Association executive board for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Medrano, a forensic science major at Lasell, was elected the SAA's Chair of Membership.

The SAA is comprised of student leaders, ranging from first-years to seniors, who engage with the university's alumni community. Members serve as a liaison to alumni on behalf of the current student community.

Shannon Grafton, a Lasell University student from Peabody, recently earned the designation of Certified Hospitality Department Trainer (CHDT).

The CHDT is a professional certification that recognizes hospitality professionals for their knowledge and skills in training employees within any vertical of the hospitality industry.
