Peabody Wants Entertainment Venue, Another Grocery Store

We asked what businesses you'd like to see in Peabody. You got creative (and a little illegal).

PEABODY, MA – Peabody residents have a pretty long wish list when it comes to what businesses they'd like to see in the city, but they're good with the Dunkin Donuts they've got.

We asked on Facebook what businesses Peabody would like to see in town, and got a variety of responses. Two suggestions stood out: Residents want a grocery store (preferably in South Peabody, preferably Hannaford's), and some sort of entertainment venue.

Commenters said they'd like the Hannaford grocery store – which was bought by Big Y last year – to come back, particularly in South Peabody. They also said they'd like some sort of entertainment, like a brewery, a concert venue, hookah lounge, or casino.

People also said they'd like to see new restaurants in Tanner City, with features like outdoor seating and live music. Facebook users also got a little illegal when someone suggested an escort service, and another recommended a dispensary (Peabody may ban recreational dispensaries from the city, and the state postponed allowing them until 2018).

Read all the responses (there are a lot) here, and suggest your own.
