Police: Man Broke Into Neighbor's Home and Threatened Her With Knife

Police say there was a dispute between two neighbors that turned violent at a mobile home park.

Police say a man broke into his neighbor's mobile home and threatened her with a knife Tuesday night at a trailer park on Route 1.

The incident was characterized as a dispute between two neighbors who live at Mobile Estates, but it wasn't clear from initial reports what they were fighting about. The incident was first reported shortly after 8 p.m.

Police obtained a temporary warrant for the suspect -- a 53-year-old man who lives at the park -- on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon (a knife), breaking and entering for a felony, wanton destruction of property and intimidating a witness.

An officer said the victim was advised of her rights for a restraining order, but she declined at the time and said she would go to court herself.

The Salem News reports the man allegedly broke into the woman's home, grabbed a steak knife out of an open drawer and threatened her it.

There was then a brief struggle during which a picture was knocked down and the door was damaged, reports the Salem News.
