PYSA Takes on Gillette Stadium in Revolution 4V4 Cup
Peabody soccer players look to make an impact at Gillette Stadium in the 2018 Revolution 4V4 Cup on Saturday.

The World Cup tournament has been the talk of the soccer world for the past month. This Sunday’s final match between France and Croatia will mark the end of an exciting tournament where the some of the favorites were knocked out and underdogs prevailed. As the soccer world prepares to wrap up their biggest event, some of Peabody’s own soccer teams will be looking to make an impact in a tournament of their own.
On Saturday, PYSA will be represented by teams competing in the 2018 Revolution 4V4 Cup, a tournament run by the New England Revolution. Teams from all over the state will be traveling to Gillette Stadium to compete in this 4 vs 4 style tournament. Peabody will be sending 10 teams in total. Each team is allowed a maximum of 7 players. The first round of the tournament consists of a round robin format. The final round is single elimination. Each game will last 25 minutes.
Among those competing for Peabody are two U10 boys teams, coached by Kate Somers, Frank D'Alleva and John DeCost, one U12 girls team, coached by Robert Silva Jr. and Liz Caron, three U12 boys teams, coached by Rico Mello, Kris Adams, Jon Galvin, Paul Forte and Dennis Droggitis, and four U14 boys teams coached by Jose Isidro, Steven Williams, Kevin Connelly and Helder Braz. Despite being on summer break, the players and coaches have been working hard to prepare for Saturday’s games. Working particularly hard has been coach Jose Isidro, who has been responsible for putting all of this together. Donations by Peabody’s Mayor Edward Bettencourt Jr., and school committee members Joe Amico and John Olimpio have also aided in this opportunity.

The Revolution 4V4 kicks off at Gillette Stadium bright and early on Saturday morning. Good luck to all of the players and coaches.
