Route 128 Exit In Peabody Closed 2 Nights This Week
Exit 39 (formerly Exit 26) southbound and the Lowell Street on-ramp will be closed Sunday and Monday night for construction.
PEABODY, MA — Traffic will be detoured around a Peabody exit and on-ramp to Route 128 closed for construction starting this weekend.
The state Department of Transportation said Exit 39 (formerly Exit 26) from Route 128 southbound and the Lowell Street on-ramp to 128 south will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. both Sunday and Monday night.
The DOT said the closures are necessary to allow crews to safely and effectively conduct construction operations, including erosion controls and a construction survey.

Southbound 128 traffic going to Lowell Street will be detoured to stay on Route 128 to Exit 38, turn left onto Forest Street, turn right onto Summit Street and take Summit Street back to Lowell Street.
Lowell Street traffic heading to Route 128 southbound will be detoured to stay on Lowell Street to Summit Street, turn left onto Forest Street and take the left onto Route 128 southbound.

Detour signs will be in place. Drivers are advised to expect delays and reduce speed approaching work zones.
The work is part of a $6.2 million pavement and median barrier improvement project on Route 128 expected to be completed in two years.
