Santa Claus Is Coming To Peabody ... With The Platters

Area residents are invited to enjoy a drive-by appearance from the big man and the Grammy-winning vocal group.

PEABODY, MA —Santa Claus will have some serious backup chops when he arrives in Peabody Saturday night as the big man is set to appear in the Rolling Hills section of Peabody alongside 1950s vocal super group The Platters.

The current-day version of The Platters —famous for hits such as "Only You" and "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" — will act as "carolers" during what music and communications professional Fred Balboni is calling a "Winter Wonderland" at 16 Clark Road in Peabody.

Music Director/Keyboardist Michael Larson will accompany the musical performance that runs from 7 to 9 p.m.

"The cost-free, slow-rolling event through the Rolling Hills section of Peabody is designed for residents to see Santa (from a safe distance) outside a risky mall environment and experience holiday sights and sounds in a cozy, seasonably decorated, intimate neighborhood," Balboni said.

Balboni said this is strictly a "drive-by" event due to the coronavirus health crisis. Those attending will greet Santa and The Platters from inside their vehicles and must not leave the vehicles at any time.
