State Police Announce Essex County Sobriety Checkpoint

Mass. State Police will set up a sobriety checkpoint somewhere in Essex County this weekend.

ESSEX COUNTY, MA – Mass. State Police announced Monday that they would set up a sobriety checkpoint somewhere in Essex County this weekend.

The checkpoint will be on a public way on Saturday, July 15, into Sunday, July 16. The hours of the checkpoint will be varied.

"The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public's awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways," read the announcement from Mass. State Police Superintendent Colonel Richard D. McKeon.
