Watch Out For Turtles: Peabody Police Log

A turtle seems to be favoring Lowell Street, and a driving lesson looked suspicious from the outside.

  • Joseph Powers, 31, of Peabody, was arrested on charges of breaking and entering in the daytime, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, malicious destruction of property, and intimidating a witness on Tuesday around 7:30 p.m. after a reported disturbance on Foster Street.
  • Police helped a man retrieve his phone from under a bush on Forest Street on Tuesday around 8:30 p.m.
  • Officers responded to a report of suspicious activity in an Oak Street parking lot on Tuesday around 10:30 p.m. when someone saw a car with one headlight driving in circles. Police found the owner of the car was teaching his girlfriend to drive.
  • Animal Control responded to a report of a turtle crossing Lowell Street and holding up traffic on Thursday around 5 p.m. Police found that the turtle got to the other side of the road.
  • Anthony J. Horne, 30, of Framingham, was arrested on charges of assault and battery on a police officer, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, leaving the scene of a property damage, driving with a suspended license, and negligent driving on Friday around 3 a.m. after police were called to a car accident on Jubilee Drive.
  • Samuel Lopez, 43, of Lynn, was arrested on charges of drunken driving, unlicensed driving, and possession of an open container of alcohol on Saturday around midnight after police responded to a report of a person slumped over the wheel on Lynn Street.
  • Sage M. Miller, 41, of Peabody, was arrested on charges of drunken driving on Sunday around 3:30 a.m. after a report of a car accident on Driscoll Street.
  • A caller reported a large turtle in the middle of Lowell Street on Sunday around 7 a.m. A civilian escorted the turtle to the other side of the road into its habitat.
  • James R. Legault, Jr., 28, of Lynn, and Dennis J. Caufield, Jr., 26 of Lynn, were arrested on charges of possession to distribute class A and C drugs, and two counts of possession to distribute class B drugs. Caufield was also arrested on charges of driving with a revoked license, and Legault on a warrant. Police made the arrests on Sunday around noon after checking on a suspicious car on Andover Street.
