#4 Hingham Defeats #12 Silver Lake In Boys Lax Tournament, 15-6

Hingham knocks off Silver Lake in their quest to repeat as South Sectional Champions.

PLYMOUTH, MA- The #4 Hingham Harbormen faced the #12 Silver Lake Lakers in the Quarterfinals of the MIAA Division 1 Boys Lacrosse South Sectional Tournament. Hingham defeated Framingham 15-7 in the 1st Round on Saturday. Silver Lake won against Barnstable 11-6 on Friday.

In the first quarter, Charlie Crean scored the first goal of the game off a feed from Lars Osterberg. Next, Hingham would go on an early rout as John Sula, Alex Rabschnuk, Matt Falvey, Osterberg, and Owen Hoffman all scored goals for the 6-0 run. Near the end of the quarter, Brandon Cavicchi scored the first goal for Silver Lake off a breakaway with 32 seconds left in the quarter. Hingham was leading 6-1 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Connor Hartman and Osterberg score the first two goals of the quarter for Hingham. Next, Silver Lake went on a 3-0 run as Christopher Broderick, Jackson Nugent, and Thomas Condon scored for the team. However, Hingham would end on the half on a 2-0 run as Paul Forbes and Crean scored to make it 10-4 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Hingham would hold off Silver Lake allowing no goals in the quarter. However, Hingham’s Cian Nicholas, Crean, Charlie Packard, Hartman, and Leo Anderson all scored for the team in the quarter, as they would extend the lead to 15-4 at the end of the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Silver Lake stopped a 7-0 run by Hingham and scored two goals in the quarter which were a second goal by Cavicchi and William Cronin. Hingham didn’t score any goals in the fourth, but didn’t need to as they would go on to win 15-6 against Silver Lake.

Hingham will move on to the South Sectional Semifinals and will face the winner of Franklin/Wellesley on Friday. Stay tuned to this post for updates.
