#4 Plymouth North Upset By #13 BC High In Baseball Tourney, 5-2

BC High giving the Patriot League trouble in the tournament as they also beat Silver Lake in the preliminary round, and now Plymouth North.

PLYMOUTH, MA- The #4 Plymouth North Blue Eagles faced the #13 Boston College High Eagles in the MIAA Division 1 Baseball South Sectional Tournament in the 1st Round. BC High is coming off a win against the Silver Lake Lakers 13-2 in the Preliminary Round.

Matt Murphy was on the mound for Plymouth North and Sean Prague was on the mound for BC High. Both pitchers pitched started with three hitless innings. Then in the fourth inning, BC High’s Tim Wagner hit a single, and then Andrew Manning brought him home with an RBI Triple. Andrew Manning then scored a run on a passed ball. Then, Chris Capozzi hit a three-run homer to make it 5-0 at the end of the fourth inning.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Plymouth North’s Joe Norris doubled for the team’s first hit of the game. Next, Dylan Zymontel followed with a single, and then Murphy did an RBI single and drove in Norris. Finally, a John Gomes fielder choice drove in a run by Zymontel.

Dan Riordan and Alec Peruzzi would relief for Murphy and would not allow any runs, but Plymouth North would not provide run support as they would go on to lose 5-2 to BC High.

BC High will go on to face #5 Wellesley in the Quarterfinals tomorrow at 4 p.m.
