#5 Plymouth North Lost To #5 King Phillip In Softball Tourney,9-3
King Phillip's comeback win knocks off Plymouth North on their deep run in the tournament.
PLYMOUTH, MA- The #5 Plymouth North Blue Eagles traveled to Plainville to face the #4 King Phillip Warriors in the MIAA Division 2 Softball South Sectional Tournament Quarterfinals on Wednesday Afternoon. Plymouth South defeated the #12 Dartmouth Indians in the 1st Round on Monday. King Phillip defeated #13 Milton also in the first round on Monday.
Jordan Bennett was on the mound for King Phillip, and she would allow three runs in the third inning but would bounce back and only allow two hits for the rest of the game. The 3 runs took place when Megan Banzi brought home Marissa Durette, Kylee Carafoli brought home Emily Jenkins on a RBI groundout. Next, Banzi scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-0 Plymouth North.
In the bottom of the third inning, King Phillip Sophomore Ava Lanza got a single, stole second, and then got to third on a base hit from Charlotte Raymond, Lanza scored when junior Mia Bennett hit an RBI Single. However, Plymouth North stranded the runners on the bases loaded at the end of the fourth inning and the score was 3-1.

In the fourth inning, Sophomore Taylor Regan, senior Paige Berdos, and Lanza each hit a single to load up the bases. With two outs left Sarah Cullen hit a 2-RBI double to tie the game up at 3 for King Phillip.
In the fifth inning, King Phillip’s Berdos took the lead with almost getting a grand slam but instead a sacrifice fly to bring in a run for their first lead of the day. Next, a two run double from Lanza and an RBI single from Cullen made it 7-3.

In the sixth inning, King Phillip extended the lead when Berdos got an two-run double to make it 9-3, which would be the final score for the King Phillip comeback victory.
King Phillip will face the undefeated #1 Taunton Tigers in the SemiFinals later today at 7 p.m.
