#6 Plymouth South Beat #3 Whitman-Hanson In Baseball Tourney, 4-2

Inter-conference foes rematch for the third time this season and Plymouth South came up big as they will move on to the Semifinals.

PLYMOUTH, MA- The #6 Plymouth South Panthers faced the #3 Whitman-Hanson Panthers on Wednesday Afternoon on the MIAA Division 2 Baseball South Sectional Tournament Quarterfinals. Whitman-Hanson defeated the #14 Dartmouth Indians 2-0 on Monday.

On the mound were Hunter Dean for Plymouth South and Tommy Marshall for Whitman-Hanson.

In the first inning, Tommy Sullivan hit an RBI double to score the first run and then another runner scored on a passed ball to make it 2-0.

In the second inning, Whitman-Hanson's Jaden Booker crossed home plate when Aidan Berry hit to Dean and then Dean threw him out to make it 2-1.

In the third inning, Plymouth South pulled off a 3-6 double play, which is a play when the first baseman tag the first base and then throws to second base for the double play and also stranded two batters in the inning.

In the fourth inning, Plymouth South got another run when Robbie Clarke hit an RBI single to center field. Then Plymouth South forced another double play and then a strikeout to strand two Whitman-Hanson runners. It was 3-1 Plymouth South at the end of the fourth inning.

In the sixth inning, Kyla Affsa blasted a sacrifice fly to center field and then plated Nathan Ferry to make it 4-1 for Plymouth South. Then, Whitman-Hanson pinch hitter Cam Cummings walked when it was bases loaded which cut the deficit to 4-2.

Hunter Dean would finish the game in the seventh inning as Plymouth South would go on to win against Whitman-Hanson 4-2.

Plymouth South will travel to Milton to face the #2 Wildcats in the Semifinals on Friday Afternoon at 4 p.m.
