Boston Restaurant Opens Plymouth Location

Nix's Mate, a downtown Boston restaurant, celebrated the opening of its sister location on the Plymouth Waterfront Tuesday.

Nix’s Mate is getting a mate. A sister restaurant, Nix's Plymouth, opened Wednesday at 6 Town Wharf in the South Shore town of Plymouth.

Tuesday, the restaurant celebrated with an open house and cocktail party, featuring bites from the restaurant's menu, free drinks, and pumping music.

The 254-seat restaurant overlooks the water with a view of the tourist magnet, The Mayflower II. The restaurant is decorated in a rustic seafaring and colonial style with a modern twist. It features a large bar with high-def TV, booths, high-top and table seating. It has a full liquor license. Two patios will open this summer, one with a raw bar and regular bar overlooking the water as well. The patios add another 100 seats, according to Zagat.com.

While the menu is American, it skews for the waterfront, featuring more sandwiches and fried seafood than the Boston location. Lobster roll and lobster sliders are part of the offerings. Entree prices run $22-$28; sandwiches are $12-$14.
