Coronavirus: Plymouth Schools Launch Learning Opportunities Page
Plymouth Schools are offering ways for students to enhance learning on an optional basis during the coronavirus school closure.
PLYMOUTH, MA — Plymouth Public Schools have launched a "Learning Opportunities During School Closure" page on the district website to provide ways to continue the learning experience during the coronavirus school closure. The district said in the near future teachers will be contacting their students to ensure a "continuation of learning" but added that these opportunities are considered a suggestion, and not an obligation, during this closure.
"These days will be considered a three-week closing period," Assistant Superintendent Christopher Campbell said in a letter to the school community. "The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has stated there is no expectation of online learning or for the provision of educational services or for the provision of educational services during this period. These are considered non-school days."
The "Learning Opportunities" page is designed to provide students daily opportunities to engage in daily reading and writing, practice math facts and problem solving, increase their content knowledge, and explore enrichment opportunities.

The last day of school in Plymouth this spring will be June 25 regardless of any extended school closures.
"During this time, students should not be completing assignments that are due for a grade and teachers should not be expecting students to submit work to be graded," Campbell said. "I need to stress that, currently, we are not allowed to provide any digital remote or learning opportunities that replace in-person teaching during this closure."

Campbell said the situation is "fluid and subject to change" based on any guidance regarding any extending closure.
Plymouth Schools said teachers should be communicating with their students the best ways for any voluntary virtual learning during this time and will receive support and assistance from the district.
