Coronavirus Prison Release Candidate Pleads Guilty To Drug Charge

The Plymouth County DA's Office said that Lyle Dorgan, of Plymouth, was sentenced to three to four years in state prison.

PLYMOUTH, MA — A Plymouth man who sought to be released from prison as part of releases associated with the coronavirus health crisis has been sent to state prison after pleading guilty to distributing fentantyl.

The Plymouth County District Attorney's Office said that Lyle Dorgan, 30, pleaded guilty during a remote session of Plymouth Superior Court on Wednesday of one count of possession with intent to distribute a Class A substance.

The DA's Office said that in 2019 an investigation into fentanyl distribution out of Dorgan's Plymouth residence determined that Dorgan would return to his Connecticut home state and return to Plymouth with fentanyl.

During one trip in August 2019, State Police pulled Dorgan over in Middleboro and used a warrant search of his vehicle to uncover 19 bundles containing 290 folds of fentanyl, weighing about seven grams. A subsequent warrant search of Dorgan's Plymouth residence uncovered seven Suboxone strips and a digital scale disguised as a CD case.

In April, while being held on bail, Dorgan filed a motion for a coronavirus-related release. The motion was denied.
