Is Dairy Queen Coming to Plymouth?
A Dairy Queen is reportedly in the works for Plymouth as the chain nearly doubles its Massachusetts presence.

PLYMOUTH, MA — Dairy Queen is reportedly eyeing Plymouth as it nearly doubles its Massachusetts presence.
The ice cream chain, which currently operates 33 Bay State locations, will add 60 more in the next five years, a company official told the Boston Globe. Plymouth, Stoughton, Peabody, Burlington, Billerica, Worcester, and Amherst were mentioned as possible locations.
The chain also announced plans for its first Vermont stores. There another eight Dairy Queens in New Hampshire.

The first Dairy Queen opened in Illinois in 1940. Now, there are over 6,700 locations worldwide.
Tuesday, by the way, is Dairy Queen's "free ice cream day."

Dairy Queen is owned by Warren Buffett’s conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway. In recent months, it has expanded its fast-food offerings like hamburgers and chicken melts to mitigate sales slowdowns in winter months.
In 2014, Dairy Queen's net income was reported to be at about $50 million.
