Massachusetts State Police will conduct a sobriety checkpoint Labor Day weekend somewhere in Plymouth County. The checkpoint will be held late Saturday into Sunday morning. Per police policy, the exact time and location were not divulged.

"The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public’s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways," Massachusetts State Oolice Col. Kerry Gilpin said in a statement. "It will be operated during varied hours, the selection of vehicles will not be arbitrary, safety will be assured, and any inconveniences to motorists will be minimized with advance notice to reduce fear and anxiety."

It will be a busy weekend on Massachusetts roads this holiday weekend due in part to low gas prices. A spokesperson for traffic-tracking company INRIX told Boston.com the worst time to drive is 4-6 p.m. Thursday, when you'll get hit with a double whammy of commuters and early travelers.
