You probably noticed, but it's really hot out there today.Â
The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for Plymouth (and the rest of Massachusetts).
The NWS expects the heat index to reach 110 degrees today as temperatures range in the upper 90s and a dewpoint around 70Â (here in Plymouth it's a cool 94 degrees on the coast).Â
The warning is in effect until 7 p.m., and warns people working outdoors to take precautions:
- Rescheduling strenuous activities to early morning or evening,
- Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing and
- Drink plenty of water.Â
- Stay in an air-conditioned environment and out of the sun
- Check on relatives and neighbors
- If you work outside take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments
- Know the signs of heat exhaustion.
- Call 911 if you think you, or someone else, is suffering from heat stroke
