Five Things You Need to Know Today: April 28

Join Plimoth Plantation in a celebration of artists at the Native Craft Fair, today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

1. Join Plimoth Plantation in a celebration of artists at the Native Craft Fair, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, April 28. Native vendors and artisans from across the region will be demonstrating their skills and selling jewelry, basketry and other handmade crafts created from traditional materials. Children’s crafts, including corn husk doll making, and games are also available hourly starting at 10:30 a.m. The fair will be held in the courtyard of the Henry Hornblower II Visitor Center.  For more information call 508-746-1622 or visit www.plimoth.org. Admission to both the craft demonstrations and the Native Craft Fair are free with the cost of admission.

2. If you are interested in exploring your summer camp option, attend an open house at Camp Wind-in-the-Pines from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 28. Girls and their families are welcome to tour the camp and learn about the programs offered this summer. For more information, visit www.hercamp.org or call 617-350-8335. Bus transportation to Camp Wind-in-the-Pines is free and the stops will be at Kohl’s at Exit 5, Walmart off Route 44, Hedge Elementary School and Plymouth North High School.

3. Tim Turner will speak about “Plymouth, A Native American Perspective” at 6 p.m. Sunday, April 28, at First Parish Meetinghouse in Town Square. Turner is the owner/operator of Native Plymouth Tours and manager of the Wampanoag Indigenous Program at Plimoth Plantation. The event is presented by the Campaign for First Parish Meetinghouse. 4. The Downtown Historic Waterfront District Neighborhood Watch will hold a meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, April 29, in the Russell Library at the Plymouth Center for the Arts, located at 11 North St. All downtown residents are invited to attend and share their thoughts and ideas on improving the quality of life in their neighborhood. Topics for discussion include noise, parking, graffiti, drug activity, public safety and any issues of interest to residents.
