Five Things You Need to Know Today: April 29
The Downtown Historic Waterfront District Neighborhood Watch will hold a meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, April 29, in the Russell Library at the Plymouth Center for the Arts.

The Downtown Historic Waterfront District Neighborhood Watch will hold a meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, April 29, in the Russell Library at the Plymouth Center for the Arts, located at 11 North St. All downtown residents are invited to attend and share their thoughts and ideas on improving the quality of life in their neighborhood. Topics for discussion include noise, parking, graffiti, drug activity, public safety and any issues of interest to residents. 2. The Tidepool Poets will present a poetry reading from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, April 29, in the Otto Fehlow meeting room at the Plymouth Public Library, located at 132 South St. Members who will read their own poetry include Alison Cappella, Carol DeFelice, Joan Dugas, Kit Dunlap, David Gover, Chuck Harper, Diane Harrison, Judy Snow, Lisa Sullivan and Gabrielle Turgeon. The Tidepool Poets: Poems 2013 will be available for purchase and signing by individual poets at the event. This program is free and no registration is required. 4. Cape Downwinders will host an evening of discussion and information at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 2, focusing on Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station and the threat it poses to Cape Cod, at the Brewster Ladies Library, located at 1822 Main St. in Brewster. The nuclear power plant in Plymouth will be discussed, including facts regarding operational history, nuclear waste storage, environmental and health concerns, the lessons learned from Fukushima and the lack of any emergency plan for Cape Cod. Guest speakers include state Rep. Sarah Peake and Diane Turco and David Agnew, the cofounders of Cape Downwinders. For details, visit www.capedownwinders.org.
