
1. Hometown Cleanup Day is Saturday, May 4. Volunteer groups will fan out all over the town in neighborhoods, parks and favorite spots to pick up garbage, clean up debris, and show some love to America’s hometown. Join an established group or put one together. 2. The Plymouth Public Library and the Plymouth Police Department will host the second annual Police Services Day at the Library, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, May 4. Families are invited see up close all the equipment the Police Department uses to keep the community safe. The library’s Otto Fehlow Meeting Room will feature informational displays about the many ways the police department serves our community.
3. Panthers’ Cubhouse Preschool at Plymouth South High School has a limited number of openings for September 2013 fall enrollment. Children must be at least 3 years old and trained. Call BethAnn Orchard at 508-224-7512, ext. 1107, for more information.

4. Cape Downwinders will host an evening of discussion and information at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 2, focusing on Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station and the threat it poses to Cape Cod, at the Brewster Ladies Library, located at 1822 Main St. in Brewster. The nuclear power plant in Plymouth will be discussed, including facts regarding operational history, nuclear waste storage, environmental and health concerns, the lessons learned from Fukushima and the lack of any emergency plan for Cape Cod. Guest speakers include state Rep. Sarah Peake and Diane Turco and David Agnew, the cofounders of Cape Downwinders. For details, visit www.capedownwinders.org.
