Five Things You Need to Know Today: May 12

It's Mother's Day, make sure to call her.

1. It's Mother's Day. In case you forgot, here's a quick way to say thanks to the woman you cleaned up after you for 18 years.

2. Plymouth's Run for 1 to support Boston's One Fund, takes place at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 25 starting at Pilgrim Memorial Park on the waterfront. The entry is fee is $25 per person or register a team for $100. Participants are encouraged to donate more.

3. The Plymouth Public Library will host a reading and book signing by author/actress/screenwriter Marianne Leone Cooper at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, at 132 South St., in the Otto Fehlow meeting room. Cooper will discuss her book, Jesse: A Mother’s Story. Books will be available for purchase and signing at the conclusion of the program.

4. The Plymouth Public Library Corporation will hold its first golf tournament Friday, June 28, at Southers Marsh Golf Club. Proceeds will benefit the Plymouth Public Library. At the conclusion of play, a helicopter from Ryan Rotors will drop 1,500 numbered golf balls. Chances to play will be available to library patrons, golfers and more. Registration and boxed lunch begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by a 1 p.m. shotgun start, scramble format. A reception begins at 5:30 p.m. with a New England clambake and awards ceremony at 6. Call  508-830-4250, ext. 216, by June 1 to reserve your spot ($150 per person or $500 per foursome). Participate in the helicopter ball drop with one ball for $5; five balls for $20. To enjoy the For the New England clambake only, the cost is $60 per person.
