Five Things You Need to Know Today: May 6
Hat Trick Theatre of Plymouth will hold auditions for performances of Agatha Christie's "The Mousetrap" at 7 p.m. tonight at Kendall Hall in First Parish Church.

1. Michael Paduch will share his skill and teach you how to design container gardens at the Plymouth Public Library from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight. He will demonstrate how to select the types of flowers and plants that will work for you as well as display some types of containers that will inspire you to put on your gardening gloves, pull out the trowel and start digging. Display plants, flowers and containers from the program will be available for purchase at the conclusion of the evening. Paduch owns and operates Crystal Lake Garden Shop and Greenhouses at 19 West Street in Carver, MA. The family greenhouse has been growing thriving, flowering plants for over 50 years specializing in unusual flowers and garden plants that are easy to grow and super hardy. The best breeding and test varieties are available to insure that they will perform vigorously in our local climate and conditions. Mike also has two outlet stores including Plymouth Farm and Garden in Plymouth.
2. Hat Trick Theatre of Plymouth will hold auditions for performances of Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap at 7 p.m. Monday, May 6, at Kendall Hall in First Parish Church, located in Town Square. Requirements are reading from the script and an English accent. Provide your resume and head shot if possible. Show dates are July 19-21 and 26-28. Character descriptions: Molly Ralston, mid to late 20s, proprietor of Monkswell Manor; Giles Ralston, mid to late 20s, can be older, husband of Molly; Christopher Wren, 20s to 30s, neurotic, nervous sort; Major Metcalf, retired Army, 50s to 60s; Miss Casewell, mid-20s to 30s, strange, aloof, masculine woman; Mr. Paravicini, 40s upwards, foreign; Detective Sergeant Trotter, mid-20s to 30s. 3. The Jr. Eagles hockey team will hold tryouts for the 2013-2014 junior high season. Registration will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, upstairs in the Armstrong rink in Plymouth. There is a $50 nonrefundable fee to try out. Checks can be made payable to Plymouth Jr. Eagles. Tryouts will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, and again from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 23 at the Armstrong rink in Plymouth. Players need to make it to both tryouts. Any player who will be in the 6th, 7th or 8th grade next year, who lives in Plymouth, is encouraged to try out. The mission of the Jr. Eagles is to develop the hockey skills of the players along with guiding them in areas of academics, attitude, work ethic and community service. 4. The annual Elks yard sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at 52 Long Pond Road. There are 15 spaces available for a donation of $20 per area of 10 by 12 feet. All proceeds go to the veteran programs at Plymouth Elks. Stop by the lodge at 52 Long Pond Road and pick your spot anytime after 2 p.m. When signing up, payment would be appreciated. All checks must be made out to B.P.O.E. 1476.The Black Feather Horse Rescue League will also be there.
