Five Things You Need to Know Today: Sixth Grade Fundraiser and What to do for Father's Day
Sixth graders are hosting a walking event to raise money for the American Cancer Society and make reservations for a Father's Day pig roast.

1. A group of sixth-grade students from Plymouth South Middle School will host Relay Recess, an all-day walking event, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, June 13, at their school, in support of the American Cancer Society’s mission to create a world with less cancer and more birthdays. The students have worked diligently on this community-service learning project and have already raised more than $5,000 by requesting donations and sponsorships from local businesses and selling T-shirts, bracelets and water bottles. If you are interested in making a donation, send a check made payable to the PSMS Student Activity Fund to Plymouth South Middle School, 488 Long Pond Road, Plymouth, MA 02360 to the attention of Deborah Lybarger or call Lynne Richardson at 617-480-8399.
2. Alden Park Bar & Grill is hosting a Father's Day pig roast Sunday, June 16 from noon to 6 p.m. to support the Plymouth Education Foundation. Get your tickets at the restaurant.
3. The Cedarville Steering Committee and the Commission on Disabilities will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, at the Center Hill Preserve, located off Center Hill Road in South Plymouth. The agenda will include a presentation by Lotte Diomede, president and co-founder of SMILE (Small Miracles In Life Exist) on beach wheelchairs, for possible use at Long Beach and the Hedges Pond Recreation area.
