Friendly's Offers Free Scoops Monday
Friendly's Restaurant on Long Pond Road is offering free scoops to celebrate a new renovation and updated menu.

Friendly's Restaurant on Long Pond Road will celebrate a new look and new menu with free ice cream Monday, July 22.
The restaurant will re-launch four of its Massachusetts restaurant locations as part of an initiative to reposition the brand and bring it closer to its roots, according to a release.Â
The idea is for the restaurant to have a style that, in their words: "would fit just as easily in 1940 as it would in 2020."

Updates include refurbished interiors and exteriors, a redesigned menu with new products as well as product improvements. The restaurant will have white walls with red accents, decorated with black and white photos featuring children, the restaurant's history, and the locale. Seating has also been updated, with gray and black booths and high top tables and chairs. Â
The menu has also been updated, with new offerings and updates to existing items. New items include a "Build Your Own Burger" allowing customers to customize their burger by selecting the meat, bread, and toppings of their choice and later name their creation. Then there's the "Slinky Dog," which is a nine-inch, all-beef hot dog that can be topped with a variety of options such as chili; appetizers have also been updated with options such as onion rings and chicken sliders.Â

Even the ice cream is being updated. The Fribble, Friendly's version of the frappe, will be made with hard ice cream, as it once was. The restaurant has also added a new type of ice cream cone, the red velvet waffle cone, which is made fresh daily in the restaurant.Â
Friendly's will celebrate the revamp with free sundae cups Monday. Plymouth Selectman Belinda Brewster and Boys and Girls Club of Plymouth director Mara London will be on hand to offer scoops with Friendly's CEO John Maguire.Â
In addition, Friendly's will offer one dollar Happy Ending sundaes until Aug. 4. Friendly's will also donate one dollar for every ice cream sold through July 28 to the Boys and Girls Club of Plymouth. Â
