Hingham Girls Lax Lost Hard Fought Battle Against Norwell, 11-10

A last second goal was the game winner for Norwell.

HINGHAM, MA- The Hingham Harborwomen girls lacrosse team faced Norwell at home this afternoon. Hingham is coming off a crushing win against the Whitman-Hanson Panthers, 20-3. Norwell is coming off a win against Scituate, 10-5.

In the 1st quarter, Hingham got the first goal of the game with 9:57 in the quarter. Then Norwell tied the game with 5:10 in the quarter. Norwell then took the lead with 3:40 left in the quarter. Norwell then scored 2 goals to end the quarter. Norwell lead at the end of the first quarter, 4-1.

In the 2nd quarter, Norwell scored the first goal of the quarter to make it 5-1 with 10:42 left. At 10:29, Hingham scored it’s first goal of the quarter. But, Norwell clapped back with another goal with 7:47 in the quarter. Hingham then scored another goal at 6:32 left in the quarter to lower the deficit to 6-3. The teams traded goals twice more. Norwell was leading 8-5 at halftime.

In the 3rd quarter, Hingham scored three goals to start the quarter to tie the game at 8. Then with 2:44 left in the quarter, Hingham took it’s first lead since the first quarter to make it 9-8 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

In the 4th quarter, Norwell tied the game with 3:27 left in the game. Norwell then took the lead and made it 10-9 with 2:14 left in the game. Hingham tied the game at 10 with 1:41 left in the game. Norwell then went across the field and scored a last second goal to win the game 11-10.

For the Harborwomen, Shea Berigan led the team with five goals, then Ellie Fabbro and Kylie Wilson scored two each for Hingham.

Hingham’s next game be against Duxbury on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. start time.
