More Cowbell: Plymouth Farmers' Market Opens Today

The 10th season of the original Plymouth Farmers' Market includes some changes, new faces, and plenty of fresh summer produce and food.

You want more cowbell, and more fresh, locally grown and produced food? Starting today, June 6, you've got it.

The traditional cowbell will ring at 2:30 p.m. opening the Plymouth Farmers' Market at Plimoth Plantation for the summer season.

Veteran cow bell ringer, 9-year-old Mason Anglin Rizzo, will pass the traditional cow bell, which rings opens the Plymouth Farmers’ Market each week, to the children of incoming market managers Martha Stone and Lieza Dagher at 2:20 p.m.

The families of the market organizers, market volunteers, member farmers and makers, loyal shoppers, and special guests will kick off the celebration of the 10th Season Anniversary and the official transfer of the market to new stewards, by ringing the cowbell at 2:30 p.m.

Guests expected to join the bell passing ceremony from the local farm and food community include Heidi Cooley, chair of the Plymouth Agriculture Committee; Bridget Alexander, Executive Director of Southeastern Massachusetts Agricultural Partnership, SEMAP; Frank Albani, director of Soule Homestead Farm Education Center in Middleboro; Walter Morrisson, of Morrisson’s Farm and Garden center; Ellie Donovan, Executive Director of Plimoth Plantation; and Erin Koh and Kofi Ingersol of Bay End Farm, Bourne, a founding farm member of the market in 2004 and current farm member. The public is invited to participate.
