Plymouth Firefighters To Receive Coronavirus Vaccine

PLYMOUTH, MA — Plymouth firefighters are set to receive the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on Thursday at the Plymouth Fire Department Headquarters as part of Phase I of the state's vaccine distribution plan.

The vaccines will be administered by Brewster Ambulance Service personnel to local first responders including Plymouth Fire Chief G. Edward Bradley, Deputy Fire Chief Neil Foley, District 1 Vice President of the Professional Firefighters of Massachusetts and Plymouth Firefighter James Brown, Director of the Plymouth Public Health Department Karen Keane, and other Plymouth Fire Department employees.

“We are extremely pleased to have received our shipment of COVID-19 vaccinations from the state as they will go a long way in ensuring the safety of our first responders during the ongoing pandemic,” said Bradley in a news release.

“I would like to thank the Plymouth Firefighters Local 1768, the Professional Firefighters of Massachusetts and Director of Plymouth Public Health Karen Keane for their cooperation during this time. Without their cooperation, our vaccination effort wouldn’t have been possible," he continued.

The Plymouth Fire Department will host vaccination events for all local first responders in the next few weeks, including members of the Plymouth Police Department and dispatchers.

According to the latest data from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Plymouth has had a total of 2,762 COVID-19 cases, with 708 reported in the two weeks leading up to Jan 14. The town has an average daily incidence rate of 80.6 and a positivity rate of 9.28%, remaining in the "red zone", or the highest risk of virus transmission.
