Plymouth Man Killed In Mass. Pike Crash In Westfield
State Police said a tow truck struck the Plymouth man's Nissan from behind following the initial three-vehicle crash.
PLYMOUTH, MA — A 21-year-old Plymouth resident was killed in a multiple-vehicle crash that shut down the westbound lanes of the Mass. Pike in Westfield for about four hours on Monday afternoon.
State Police said the Plymouth man, driving a 2005 Nissan Altima, was involved in a three-vehicle crash in the left lane while in heavy traffic about 3 p.m. After the initial crash, the Plymouth man's Nissan was struck from behind by a 2003 Peterbilt heavy duty tow truck.
Police said the man was pronounced dead on the scene. His name is not being released pending family notifications.

The other vehicles involved in the crash were a 2019 Toyota Rav4, driven by a 36-year-old woman, and a 2017 Ford Super duty pickup truck, driven by a 57-year-old man.
The tow truck driver and Rav4 driver were treated for minor injuries at Bay State Medical Center. Police said the Ford driver was not injured.

The cause of the initial crash is under investigation.
