Plymouth North Loses Close Game to Marshfield In Softball, 12-11

Plymouth North and Marshfield went back and forth with the lead until Marshfield closed the game with the win.

PLYMOUTH, MA- The Plymouth North Blue Eagles softball team traveled to Marshfield to face the Rams on Wednesday Afternoon. Plymouth North is coming off a win against Duxbury on Monday. Marshfield is coming off a loss against Silver Lake, 8-7 on Monday.

In the 1st inning, Marshfield’s Sam Bongiolatti hit a solo home run to come back from an early deficit.

In the 4th inning, Plymouth North scored 5 runs to take the lead 8-7. Then, Marshfield tied the game at 8 in the 5th inning.

Then, Plymouth North took the lead again when junior Megan Banzi cleared the bases with 3 RBIs to make it 11-8.

Then in the 6th inning, Marshfield’s Hailee McPhee drove in two runs and took the lead, 12-11. Marshfield won the game by the score 12-11.

Meg Banzi had four hits, 3 RBIs, and two runs for Plymouth North. Kyleigh Green and Grace Beatty both had three hits for the Eagles. Green also had 3 RBIs.

Plymouth North outhit Marshfield 15-13, but stranded 12 runners on base during the game.

Plymouth North’s next game will be on Friday traveling to Hingham to face the Harbormen at 4 p.m. start time.
