Plymouth Obituaries: July 27, 2013

Jill Marie Balboni, age 36, died July 23 at Brigham and Womens Hospital in Boston following a life long battle with cystic Fibrosis. Jill was the loving daughter of Joseph Balboni, Jr. and Debra (Gilbert) Galletti both of Plymouth. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in her Junior year and attended the University of Central Florida, where she received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Following her graduation, Jill's health began to decline and she moved back to Plymouth to be with her family while awaiting a lung transplant. During this time her great uncle Robert Balboni expressed his wish to donate his lungs if possible. In 1999, Jill did in fact receive this gift of life from her uncle Bobby. Once her health improved, Jill continued her passion for education be attending UMass Boston where she earned two Master's degrees; one in leadership and management for non-profit and another in rehabilitation. Jill also attended Northeastern University where she earned her Doctorate in Law and Policy. She was very excited to earn this degree and had hoped to utilize her knowledge to help make changes to the law and policies governing organ transplantation so that more people could benefit. She had worked as a private consultant most recently working in the mental health field and rehab counseling. She also worked as a medical and educational advocate. Jill's zest for life pushed her to maintain strong strides towards always wanting to help those less fortunate. She loved learning, reading, shopping and spending quality time with her life partner John R. Figmic and her dogs "Scampi" and "Miss Pickles."
