Plymouth South Beats North In Baseball Patriot Cup Semifinal, 6-3

Plymouth South will advance to the Final to try for the Conference Championship.

PLYMOUTH, MA- The Plymouth North and South baseball teams faced each other in the Semifinal Round of the Patriot Cup Tournament. Plymouth South won against Hingham in the 3rd Round on Wednesday, 2-1. Plymouth North won the 2nd Round double-elimination game against Scituate Last Thursday.

In the first inning, Plymouth South’s Matt Cassidy hit a double and then scored when Brysen Tetler reached on a fielder's choice to score the first run of the game.

Next in the second inning, Plymouth South scored two runs on throwing errors and Hunter Dean drove in a run to extend the lead to 4-0. Then in the bottom of the innning, Plymouth North cut the deficit in half with 2 runs. Dylan Zemotel of North singled and then scored off a single from Matt Murphy, then Murphy scored on a throwing error.

Matt Murphy did his 2nd RBI single of the game in the fourth inning when he scored Connor Vellocone to cut Plymouth North’s deficit to 4-3.

In the fifth inning, South’s Jack Obert hit a triple and then scored on a Hunter Dean single.

Then in the sixth inning, South extended its lead to 6-3 when pitcher Adam Maher tripled and then Cassidy sacrificed him home.

Plymouth South wins against North 6-3 and will advance to the Patriot Cup Championship. They will face Whitman-Hanson on Monday.

Plymouth South’s Adam Maher allowed five hits while striking out 10 batters and adding two hits on his own in the offense. Dean and Obert both got three hits for South.
