Plymouth South Wins Against Hingham In Patriot Cup Action, 2-1

Matt Cassidy walk-off advances Plymouth South to the Patriot Cup Semifinals.

PLYMOUTH, MA- The Plymouth South Panthers baseball team faced the Hingham Harbormen on Wednesday Afternoon in the 3rd Round of the Patriot Cup. Plymouth South lost to Whitman-Hanson in the 2nd Round in a double-elimination game last Wednesday. Hingham won against Silver Lake on Monday in the 2nd Round.

The game was scoreless until the 6th inning when Matt Cassidy walked and then advanced to second base on a wild pitch from Hingham’s John Volpe. Then, Brysen Tetler drove in Matt Cassidy to make it 1-0.

In the seventh inning, Hingham’s Bobby Falvey did a RBI double when he drove in Andrew McGowan to tie the game at one.

Then, in the bottom of the seventh inning, Matt Cassidy did a walk-off single when Adam Maher scored, and Plymouth South won 2-1.

Plymouth South will be facing Plymouth North on Friday in the semifinals; the winner of the game will face the winner Whitman-Hanson/Duxbury.
