Plymouth South Wins Football Division Championship, 27-24

Plymouth South's win against the North Quincy Raiders, ends the football season with the repeat as Patriot League Fisher Division champs.

PLYMOUTH, MA- The Plymouth South Panthers football team traveled to North Quincy to face the Raiders on Saturday Afternoon in the Patriot League Fisher Division Championship. Plymouth South is coming off a win against Scituate last Friday Night. North Quincy is coming off a win over their in-city rival the Quincy Presidents.

In the first half, North Quincy scored first with a Liam Hines two-yard touchdown run with 10:12 left in the second quarter. In the Plymouth South next offensive drive, freshman running back Casious Johnson had a 47-yard run, and then did a 1-yard run for a touchdown. North Quincy clapped back with a 22-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Cooper Hansen on the team’s first passing attempt. Plymouth South would tie the game again when Casious Johnson had a 35-yard touchdown run. The score was tied at 14 at halftime.

In the second half, Plymouth South scored the first touchdown of the half by a another Casious Johnson touchdown (3rd of the game), this time a 22-yard run. Then, North Quincy tied the game when Colm Geary caught a touchdown pass from Cooper Hansen at the end of the end zone with 1:50 left in the third quarter. North Quincy then took the lead in the fourth quarter, when junior kicker Thomas Murray made a 26-yard field goal with 2:34 left in the fourth quarter. Plymouth South scored the game winning touchdown when senior quarterback Hunter Dean passed a touchdown pass to Matt Mahoney with 28 seconds left in the game. Plymouth South won the game 27-24 against North Quincy.

Plymouth South’s Casious Johnson had 226 rushing yards with his three rushing touchdowns. Quarterback Hunter Dean went 3 for 4 with 18 passing yards while rushing for 69 yards on just 14 carries. North Quincy’s senior captain Liam Hines had 148 yards on 36 carries.

Plymouth South repeats as the Fisher Division champions in this win. Although, Plymouth South has an option to play a seventh game, but will choose to not use the option. So, that means they end the season as division champions.
