Plymouth Students Outdo State Average In English, Not Math

Plymouth School District students scored higher than state average in English, yet not in math or science.

PLYMOUTH, MA — Massachusetts has released results of the latest MCAS test, which is used by the state as a guide to measure students' academic performance. Across the Plymouth School District, students did better than the state average in English, but not in math and science.

In 10th-grade English, 65 percent of Plymouth students met or exceeded expectations, which is higher than the state average of 61 percent. And for fifth- through eighth-grade, 54 percent of Plymouth students at least met expectations in English, again higher than the state average of 52 percent.

When it comes to math and science, though, Plymouth students did slightly lower than the state average this year, according to the data released Tuesday.
