PEMBROKE, MA — The 87-year-old woman killed in a four-car crash that shut down Route 3 in Pembroke on Sunday has been identified as Nancy Chamberlin, of Quincy, according to Massachusetts State Police.
Police said the crash remained under investigation on Monday and that no other information was being released at the time.
Chamberlin died and several others were injured in the chain-reaction crashes Sunday morning about 9:30 a.m. Police said Chamberlin crashed in the northbound lanes near exit 12 and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

The initial crash triggered several smaller crashes, and four people ended up going to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. Route 3 northbound was closed for about three hours, causing a miles-long backup. All lanes had reopened by around 1 p.m., according to MassDOT.
Police did not immediately say caused the initial crash. A pothole had been repaired earlier on Sunday just north of the scene of the crash, but was not a factor in any of the incidents, state police said.
