Screaming for Ice Cream in the Pinehills

Let's Scream 4 Ice Cream opens for the summer in the Pinehills.

Nothing says summer more than a drippy ice cream cone and Plymouth's newest ice cream shop just opened for business.

Let's Scream 4 Ice Cream opened May 4 in the Pinehills Village Green. The shop offers more than just 18 flavors of ice cream, according to owner and Plymouth resident Anthony Apicella.

The shop also offers low-fat frozen yogurt, sundaes, milkshakes, sherbert, and the New England standard: frappes.

Apicella grew up in a family of restaurateurs and cooks, and following a long career as a manager for various biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, has decided to pursue his passion for the culinary arts. He selected ice cream, since it's his 7-year-old son, Austin’s, favorite treat.

“Coming from a family that has always had restaurant business ties, we are thrilled to be opening up Let’s Scream 4 Ice Cream at The Pinehills," Apicella said. "The goal of Let’s Scream 4 Ice Cream is to offer affordable and natural ice cream and dairy products, perfect for enjoying a great day on The Pinehills’ Village Green."

Ice cream flavors include Mississippi Mud, Death by Chocolate, Caramel Turtle, Cake Batter, Strawberry Cheesecake, Coconut Rocky Road, and a dozen more that can be topped with a number of fresh toppings.

Apicella is dedicated to using natural ingredients, which means Let's Scream 4 Ice Cream's ice creams and fro-yos are made from milk and cream from local dairys that do not use hormones. The sherbet flavors are made with 100 percent fruit juice.

And that drippy ice cream cone? The cones are Apicella's own recipe, which he describes as a cross between a waffle cone and a sugar cone. They're also available dipped in chocolate.

Let’s Scream 4 Ice Cream is located at 12 Village Green South, and open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week.
