Plymouth, MA — On Wednesday, August 19, Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth (BID Plymouth) presented “Hooray for Heroes!,” a virtual celebration to honor the incredible work of BID Plymouth doctors, nurses and staff as the South Shore battled the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The event premiered on Facebook Live and locally on PACTV, and virtually brought together recovered patients, South Shore residents, hospital staff and the local business community to raise much-needed funds to expand the capacity of the hospital’s emergency department as it prepares for the road ahead.

“We are all so humbled by the outpouring of support we received and are still receiving from our friends in the community – from former patients and their families, the business community and folks from all over the South Shore,” said Kevin Coughlin, President of BID Plymouth. “The event was a good way to share our plans for expanding our Emergency Department so that we can safely cohort suspected COVID-19 patients, with a wing of private rooms called ‘Healthcare Heroes Emergency Department East’.”
An encore presentation of “Hooray for Heroes!” will air on BID Plymouth’s Facebook and YouTube pages on Sunday at 8 p.m. Tax-deductible donations can be made at any time by texting HOORAY4HEROES to 44-321 or online at bidplymouth.org. Donations will support the hospital in preparing for a potential second surge, including the Healthcare Heroes Emergency Department East.
