Your Guide to Forefathers Family Day

Help Plymouth 400 celebrate the historic Forefather's Monument overlooking scenic Plymouth Harbor, from noon to 4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 3.

Pay homage to this local landmark with a historical day of fun in the sun. Not many people know about the National Monument to the Forefathers, located on Allerton Street. When it was built, more than 130 years ago, the 81-foot-tall statue (the third tallest in the U.S.) towered over the neighborhood, but today it's well-hidden by trees surrounding the park. Boaters can see it as easily as the Myles Standish monument across the bay in Duxbury.

There will be a 'Wicked Smokin' BBQ', an Italian Ice Food Truck, Plimoth Popcorn, music, arts and crafts, face painting, the Plymouth North Dance Team, Pilgrim period photos, square dancing, readings from Priscilla Beach Theatre students, story time, Civil War reenactments with horses, muskets, and historic tales and tours of the area and the monument.

The fun continues later that evening at Plimoth Plantation as  Plymouth 400 presents Steven Spielburg's Academy Award winning film Lincoln - free and open to the public. There will be two showings at Plimoth Cinema theater at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.  Read more and join the event here.

Parking

The daytime event will have satellite parking available at the Cold Spring Elementary School.

Parking for the screenings of "Lincoln" will be directed upon arriving to Plimoth Plantation by the theater.
