Boston Real Estate Firm Donates to Sumner Playground Reconstruction

City Realty gifted $5,000 to the effort to build a replacement park after an arson destroyed the playground in May.

Roslindale, MA – A Boston real estate group is joining the effort to rebuild the Sumner Elementary School playground in Roslindale after it was destroyed in a blaze last month.

On Friday, City Reality donated $5,000 toward the construction of a replacement park.

"Our company is a part of the Roslindale community," Stephen Whalen, a managing partner of City Realty, said in a press release. "We have been involved with projects in Roslindale, have become friends with many residents and businesspeople, and have employees who live here."

Since the May 23 fire, which was later confirmed to be arson, more than $60,000 has been raised from local businesses and community members - including $277 raised by a student-run lemonade stand.

Last week, Sumner students gathered to thank both local donors and the firefighters who tried to save their playground.
