UPDATE: Police Arrest Woman After Hyde Park Murder

The woman reportedly shot a man on Wood Avenue before fleeing in a red Nissan Pathfinder.

Police have arrested a woman in Saturday’s fatal shooting in Hyde Park.

Yvonne Lewis, 36, is charged with one count of murder after Boston and Peabody Police found and arrested her Saturday evening. She is expected to be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court on Monday.

Officers were looking for a woman driving a red Nissan Pathfinder after a shooting at nearby 239 Wood Ave. Saturday afternoon. The shooting was reported around noon Saturday. A man believed to be in his mid-40 was rushed to Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where he later died of the injury. He is believed to be a family member of Lewis.

“An incident like this sadly underscores the tragic repercussions connected to domestic violence,” Police Commissioner William Evans said in a release. “A family has been forever altered as the result of a split-second decision that will undoubtedly haunt the suspect in this case for the rest of her life. Additionally, I want to commend my officers for the dogged determination and hard work that led to the timely apprehension of the suspect in this case. Thanks to their hard work, the suspect was located and taken into custody within hours of the initial call.”
