Roslindale Marine Recruiter Held on $10K Bail On Gun Charges

He was previously being looked at as a person of interest in the case of a missing Marine.

ROSLINDALE, MA — The Marine recruiter who was named a "person of interest" in the case of a recruit who disappeared in November in Roslindale was held on $10,000 bail and Friday by a Superior Court Clerk on an arraignment on a separate case involving assault with a dangerous weapon.

Lipka was arraigned in West Roxbury in March and those conditions were kept in place at today by Superior Court Clerk Lisa Medeiros, who set a trial date of Nov. 5.

Frank Lipka, 39, of Roslindale was expected to be arraigned today in Suffolk Superior Court following his May 4 indictment for assault with a dangerous weapon and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Gunnery Sgt. Frank Lipka was being investigated as a person of interest in the case of 21-year-old Joseph Brancato, with ties to Winthrop and Roslindale. Brancato's remains were found near I-95 in March.

Through their investigation of the missing man, Boston Police detectives learned about the September 2017 incident in which Lipka allegedly assaulted a pizza delivery driver with a gun. A worker said Lipka threatened the employee because they had forgotten his hot sauce.
