Roslindale Woman Killed While Walking on I-95 in Dedham

Officials have not yet identified the woman, and are investigating why she was walking in the travel lanes.

A Roslindale woman has been killed in a crash on I-95 south in Dedham Sunday night, causing part of the highway to be shut down temporarily.

Police have not yet identified the woman, pending notification of next of kin.

All lanes are now open as police continue to investigate the crash. Reports of the accident came in just before 6 p.m. Sunday night. The right two lanes of the highway and Exit 15B were closed. They were reopened around 7:30 p.m.

Dedham Fire officials said the44-year-old woman was struck in the travel lanes of 95 and died on the scene. Officials do not yet know why the woman was walking on the highway. There were initial reports of a possible second victim. There is no further information regarding the second victim, and fire officials do not expect to release the woman’s identity until Monday.

State Police continue to investigate.
