Second Suspect in Roslindale Police Shootout Captured: Update
The incident occurred on Newburg Street Tuesday afternoon.
ROSLINDALE, MA — After searching into the night, police captured the second of two suspects allegedly involved in a shootout with officers Tuesday afternoon in Roslindale.
"We don't believe that there's any danger to residents here in the West Roxbury, Roslindale area," Boston Police Commissioner William Evans said around 8:40 p.m.
That announcement came four tense hours after police said shots rang out in an exchange between the two suspects and law enforcement officers on Newburg Street.

The gunfire broke out as Massachusetts State Police troopers conducted a gun trafficking operation in conjunction with the Boston Police Department, Evans said. One officer sustained a "minor injury in the exchange of gunfire," but they were fortunate nobody was seriously hurt, according to the commissioner.
One suspect, identified as Luis Colon, was taken into custody shortly after the shootout, but a second man—later identified as 25-year-old Eric Rosado-Gonzalez, of Dorchester— remained at large.

At 9:50 p.m., police announced he, too, had been taken into custody.
In the intervening hours, a neighborhood was brought to a standstill as city police, state troopers, K9 units and air support converged on the surrounding streets.
Commuter rail trains were held from around 5 p.m. onward at Roslindale Village station and elsewhere on the Needham Line, with most finally moving out after 6:30 p.m. Three Roslindale elementary schools—Sumner, Bates and Mozart—were briefly put into "safe mode," Boston Public Schools told Universal Hub. Meanwhile, officers combed through nearby streets, as they searched homes, sheds and yards for telltale signs of suspicious activity, from broken windows to doors left ajar.
"As you know, we did a thorough search," Evans said at a press conference shortly before Rosado-Gonzalez's capture. "We just wanted to make sure the area was safe before we opened (it) up."
He thanked the public for their cooperation and apologized for the inconvenience of the blocked streets.
Both suspects will be charged with Assault with Intent to Murder a Police Officer for their alleged involvement in the shootout with police, Evans said. The commissioner said he did not yet know whether one or both of the suspects fired on officers, one of several factors that will be determined as police complete their investigation, he said.
