5 Things You Need to Know Today: April 12

Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.

1. . Some want a place for teens to hang out and others are asking for a pool hall or more adult hangout. What would you put there?

2. A celebration of life has been scheduled for Saturday, April 14 at 9 a.m. at Cyprian Keyes Golf Club to honor Golf Coach Leo Murray who died last week. His family invites his friends to share stories and fond memories of him as a tribute to his kindness, generosity, as well as his wonderful sense of humor. Casual dress is suggested, wearing blue or your favorite sports team jersey. Private funeral arrangements have been made by the family and they are asking for donations to be made to Shrewsbury High School Athletic Booster Association, 64 Holden St., Shrewsbury, MA 01545.

3. Trash and recycling will be delayed one day due to the Patriots Day holiday on Monday.

4. Stay with Shrewsbury Patch for all the coverage of the Boston Marathon on Monday. We will be giving you live updates and slide shows as we follow the local runners who are participating in the race.

5. Today is Mass SnapShot Day at the where they will be collecting photos and statistics about the ways that people use the public library. It is part of National Library Snapshot Day, which will be taking place all over the country. Stop in to learn more about the event.
