5 Things You Need to Know Today: June 4

1. Today's a great day to show your favorite feline some love. It's Hug Your Cat Day. And if you've always thought of adopting a cat, stop by the —there's always a pet available in need of a good home.

2. Most recently, research has shown that sugary drinks can cause obesity. Some states are outlawing them completely. What do you think should happen? .

One of my favorite spots in Shrewsbury is , especially the , at 785 Main St. On Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays noon to 2 p.m. and 4 to 9:45 p.m. in the spring and summer, the music and dancing fountains can be seen and if you tune your radio to 91.7 FM, you can also hear music as well. The light show takes place from 8 to 9:45 p.m.
