Army Veteran Dies

Walter A. Pearson, of Worcester, died. His grandchild lived in Shrewsbury.

Walter A. Pearson, 85, of Worcester died Monday, June with family gathered beside him.

Walter was born in Worcester; his parents were the late Harry and Clara (Chivney) Pearson. He joined the U.S. Army and served with the Blue Devils Infantry Division in Italy. He also served as a courier in the Army Air Force in Washington DC. Walter was married for 65 years to his devoted wife Nina (Cutroni) Pearson. He was employed by Rudnick & Meagher Company for many years before retiring in 1992.

Besides Nina, Walter is survived by his two sons, Thomas Pearson and his wife Marilyn of Leicester; Gary Pearson and his wife Martha of Barre; eight grandchildren he cherished and who cherished him: Eric Pearson of Pepperell, David Pearson of Disputanta, Virginia, Amy Osborn of Cherry Valley, Daniel Pearson of Accokeek, Maryland, Jessica Pearson of Clovis, New Mexico, Matthew Pearson of Shrewsbury, Priscilla Sotac of Barre, and Christine Zelenak of Sturbridge; eight great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A son, George Pearson passed away in 2009, his sister, Arlene La Freniere also predeceased him.

Walter enjoyed carpentry, woodworking and making wooden toys.

Friends and relatives were invited to visit with the family Friday June 22 from 10 am to noon in the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St. A service will follow at 12 noon. Burial was at St. John Cemetery.
